Wilmington holds off Women's Basketball in double overtime thriller 77-75

ADA – Erica Schoenberger had a career high 13 rebounds and three steals, but Wilmington held off women’s basketball in a 77-75 double overtime victory at the ONU Sports Center Wednesday night.

This puts Ohio Northern at 8-14 (6-9 Ohio Athletic Conference) and moves Wilmington to 16-6 (9-6 OAC).

The Quaker’s Andrea Anderson made an uncontested 3-point field goal with 1:50 left in the second overtime to put them up 73-71.

Kortney Kin made a free throw with 9.1 seconds left in the second overtime to expand the Quakers lead to 77-75.

Alisha Rinehart had a chance with one second left to bring it to a third overtime, but her shot did not fall to give Wilmington the victory.

Kin made a free throw with 40.8 seconds left and tied the game up for the Quakers at 66-66, which put us into a second overtime.

The Quakers had the last chance in regulation, but due to the tough defense of Emily Culbertson Wilmington could not get a clear shot off which forced the game into overtime at 58-58.

The Polar Bears played amazing defense in the first half as they forced 12 turnovers and held a lead of 31-24 going into half.

Rinehart led the Polar Bears in scoring on the day with 17 points.

Kara Dysert was right behind her with 15 points and 12 boards to register her sixth career double-double.

Schoenberger had nine points to go along with her 13 rebounds.

The Quakers were led by Kin who registered 20 points and nine boards.

Sophomore Olivia Waters scored 15 points, while Claire Brown had six points with eight boards.

Ohio Northern will return to action Saturday at 3pm when it travels to Capital.
