Walsh edges Men's Tennis 6-3 in Polar Bears' spring home opener

ADA – The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team dropped its first home match of the spring season 6-3 to Walsh University Friday afternoon in the Fieldhouse at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.

The Polar Bears move to 2-3 overall this season, while the Cavaliers better their record to 3-4 overall.

ONU started off well by winning two of the three doubles matches.

Senior Chris Dohner and sophomore Jeff Carter won at number two doubles by defeating Deigo Yung and Jonathan Esber 8-3.

In number three doubles, senior Jay Vaidya and freshman Matt Dutro won 8-3 against Corbin Eilander and Curtis Kugler.

Senior Ryan Paul gave the Polar Bears a 3-1 lead as he won at number one singles 6-4, 6-2 over Gary Innes.

Ohio Northern begins Ohio Athletic Conference play on Monday as they travel to John Carroll for a match at 3:30 pm.
