Volleyball team to open 2009 schedule Sept. 4-5 with 31st annual ONU Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team will open its 2009 season Sept. 4-5 with the 31st annual ONU Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears, who finished 34-5 and reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament a year ago under 19-year head coach Kate Witte, will also host Defiance and national-power Wittenberg in other non-conference home action.

ONU will cill travel to tournaments at Washington (Mo.), Wittenberg and Mount Saint Joseph and will play at Bluffton in a non-league tilt.

Northern will begin the quest for its 10th consecutive OAC regular season title on Oct. 2 when John Carroll comes to the ONU Sports Center for a 7 pm contest.

The OAC Tournament is slated for Nov. 3-7 and the NCAA Tournament will run from Nov. 12-21.
