Thresher and Johnson lead Women's Golf to second-place finish at JCU Fall Invitational

CHESTERLAND — Senior Kaylea Thresher and junior Ashley Johnson each recorded a top-five finish to lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a second-place finish at the John Carroll Fall Invitational at Fowler's Mill Golf Course.
With a score of 353-351—704 and a second-place finish, Ohio Northern is now 14-3 on the year.
The Polar Bears fell short of champion Otterbein. The Cardinals had a two-day score of 351-336—687 to claim first place.
Thresher fired an opening round 83 on Saturday and finished with an 86 in Round 2, giving her a third-place finish with 169 strokes.
Johnson was just five shots behind with an 86-88—174 over the two days.
Also getting into the top 10 was sophomore Emily Gedert who finished in a tie for eighth place with a 93-86—179.
Rounding out the Polar Bear golfers were senior Terri Lynn Shigle who finished in 12th with a 94-88—182 and senior Megan Russell who was t17th with a 91-98—189.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Monday at the Defiance Fall Invitational.
