Three Wrestlers named Scholar All-America for 2008-09

ADA — Three Ohio Northern wrestlers were named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for 2008-09.

Senior David Penny, junior Jeff Penny and sophomore Luke Miller all received the honor.

The Polar Bears also finished fifth nationally and earned Scholar All-America Team designation.

David Penny won the 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference crown at 125 pounds and ended his career as a two-time All-OAC honoree and two-time national qualifier.

This season, Penny was 14-9 and finished third at the OAC Championships. He rapped up his career with a 90-53 record.

Jeff Penny has finished thrid in the 133-pound weight class at the OAC Championships each of the past two seasons and finished fourth as a freshman in 200.

Jeff posted a 22-11 record this winter and will enter his senior season with a 56-43 career record.

Miller earned All-America honors and won the OAC title at 157 pounds this season, after earning All-OAC kudos as a freshman in 2008.

Miller led the Polar Bears with a 32-9 record this year and is 63-20 in his two years at Ohio Northern.

ONU finished the 2008-09 season with a 12-11 record anf finished the OAC regular season schedule in second place with a 5-1 record under 21-yesr head coach Ron Beaschler.
