Three Women's Soccer players earn ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades

ADA — Three members of the No. 24 Ohio Northern women's soccer team have been selected ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV.

Senior Kaitlin Sanders (Kendallville, Ind/East Noble) and junior Chelsea Albert (Plain City/Dublin Scioto) earned First Team honors while senior Angie Pisut (Huber Heights/Carroll) earned Second Team honors.

Pisut and Sanders are both pharmacy majors, while Albert is a pharmaceutical business major.

This marks the third consecutive season that Sanders has been Academic All-District. She earned Third Team Academic All-District honors as a sophomore in 2007 and First Team Academic-All District honors as a junior in 2008.

Sanders also was selected as an ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American as a junior last season.

She has also been named First Team Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference the past two seasons.

Currently, Sanders ranks second all-time at Ohio Northern with 39 career assists and is one away from tying her own personal best this season with 13 on the year.

This is the first time that Albert has earned the award.

As a sophomore last season, Albert was named Honorable Mention All-OAC after recording seven goals, three assists and 17 points.

This year, she is tied for fourth on the team with five goals, third on the team with four assists and fifth on the team with 14 points.

For Pisut, this is also the first time she has earned this award in her career.

As a sophomore in 2007, she was First Team All-OAC and earned Honorable Mention Academic All-OAC recognition.

Pisut has been named OAC Player of the Week twice this season, earning the award now three times in her four seasons.

Pisut has also been ONU's most potent offensive weapon this season with a personal best and team leading 15 goals on the season. The 15 goals are tops in the OAC by three goals over her nearest competitor.

For her career, Pisut is seventh all-time with 36 goals and is tied for seventh all-time with 84 points.

Ohio Northern will host an OAC Tournament semifinal game on Wednesday at 2 pm at the ONU Soccer Field against the winner of No. 3 John Carroll and No. 6 Heidelberg.
