Softball tops #11 Moravian (Pa.), Anna Maria (Mass.) on Day 2 of Spring trip

CLERMONT, Fla. --  Mandi Fought tripled and scored in the top of the sixth and Cortney Cash threw a 4-hit shutout to lead the Ohio Northern softball team to a 1-0 victory over No. 14-ranked Moravian (Pa.) to kick off Day 2 of its spring break trip on Tuesday afternoon at the National Training Center softball complex.

The Polar Bears (4-0) finished the day with an 8-2 win over Anna Maria (Mass.)

Moravian falls to 0-2, while Anna Maria falls to 0-6.

Cash struck out three in the complete game win and improves to 2-0 on the season.

With the score tied at 0-0, Fought drilled a one-out triple and scored on a single by Liz Decima to register the game's only run.

MC got the leadoff runner in scoring position in the second and fourth innings, but each time Cash worked out of the jam.

In the second game, Northern pounded out 13 hits in the 8-2 win.

Lauren Hurd (2-0) threw four hitless innings to get the win and Stephanie Inkrott threw the final three innings to get the save.

Decima went 3 for 4 with a triple and a walk to lead the ONU offense.

Kim Blewett went 3 for 3 and Katie Cretin was 2 for 2 with a triple, walk and three RBI.

The Polar Bears will be idle on Wednesday and will return to action Thursday with games against Elizabethtown (Pa.) and Lebanon Valley (Pa.) at the National Training Center.
