Softball to open 2010 season March 1 at NTC Games in Clermont, Fla.

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team will get its 2010 schedule underway March 1 at the National Training Center Games in Clermont, Fla.
The Polar Bears are coming off their best season in program history in 2009, when they went 39-6, were ranked No. 6 nationally, won the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series.
Northern will also travel to the Marysville (Mo.) Tournament March 20-21 and play a twin-bill at Anderson (Ind.) march 24 before opening its home schedule with a twin-bill against OAC foe John Carroll March 27 at the ONU Softball Field.
Under seventh-year head coach Annette Shepherd, the Polar Bears will also play host to Denison, Capital, Defiance, Heidelberg and Muskingum.
The OAC Tournament is slated for May 6-7 at the home of the OAC regular season champion.
