Shigle sweeps diving events to lead Women's Swimming against Case Western Reserve

Cleveland — The women’s swimming and diving team’s dual meet winning streak ended at four in their regular season finale as the Polar Bears fell to non-conference opponent Case Western Reserve 145-98 in Cleveland Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Polar Bears fall to 8-7, while the Spartans improve to 3-8.
Junior Terri Lynn Shigle won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, with scores of 230.50 and 221.00, respectively.
Freshman Michelle Eggers posted the only other individual win for the Polar Bears, touching first in the 1000 free in 11:10.10.
Eggers also added a second place finish in the 500 free, finishing in 5:29.24.
The team of sophomores Cassandra Fennell and Hannah Bukowy, junior Katherine Moore, and freshman Alison Garbash dominated the 200 medley relay, winning by over ten seconds with a time of 1:44.80.
Garbash finished second in the 50 free in 25.91.
Freshman Sarah Fiffick also posted two second place finishes for the Polar Bears. She started her day just missing a win in the 200 free in 2:02.52, and later completed the 100 free in 56.29.
Junior Jenna Schaffner finished second in each diving event, with scores of 184.15 in the 1-meter and 176.10 in the 3-meter.
The Polar Bears will look to win their second Ohio Athletic Conference title in three years when they compete in the OAC Championships at the University of Akron February 19 to 21.
