Senior Tricia Fuller scores career-high 10, but Women’s Basketball falls at Capital 69-46

BEXLEY — Senior Tricia Fuller scored a career-high 10 points, but it was not enough as the Ohio Northern women’s basketball team fell 69-46 at Capital on Saturday afternoon at the Capital Center.
The Polar Bears fall to 8-15 overall and are 6-10 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the Crusaders improve to 16-5, 13-3.
Fuller was the only Northern player in double figures and added four rebounds and two steals.
Capital was led by Kristen Richardson and Caitlin Elsass with 16 points each and Danielle Sanna with 14 points.
Northern scored the first four points and led 9-4 just 3:25 into the game, but the Crusaders would go on a 12-0 run to take the lead for good at 16-9 with 12:29 left in the first half.
Baskets by Erica Holcomb and Steph Hicks and a three-pointer by Erica Schoenberger sparked a 7-2 run that pulled the Polar Bears within 28-26 with 4:05 left in the half.
The Crusaders held a 33-29 advantage at intermission.
A 7-0 CU run gave the hosts a 43-32 lead at the 14-minute mark and an 11-2 run extended that lead to 58-39 with 6:51 to go.
Northern made good on 18 of 41 field attempts for 43.9 percent, while Capital made 27 of 56 shots from the floor for 48.2.
The Crusaders out-rebounded ONU 30-29 and forced 23 Northern turnovers while committing only nine themselves.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday at 7:30 pm when they host Muskingum at the ONU Sports Center.
