ADA — Senior All-American middle hitter Liz Schnelle (New Bremen) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Schnelle helped guide the No. 4 ranked volleyball team to a three-set victory over John Carroll at home in each team's first OAC match of the season.

The 2008 OAC Co-Player of the Year was the only player in the match to reach double figures in kills, recording 16 kills, one error and 34 attempts for a .441 hitting percentage.

She also chipped in six digs, one assist, one ace and two total blocks.

Schnelle has now reached the double-digit kill mark 16 times this season in the team's 20 matches.

Earlier in the season she became Northern's most prolific offensive weapon in school history, taking over the top spot on ONU's all-time kills list. She currently has 1,956 and is only 44 kills away from becoming the only player in ONU history to eclipse the 2,000-kill mark.

Schnelle is also in second place on the OAC's all-time kills list. She is just 70 kills away from tying Nici Workman (2,026) who played for Capital from 2000-03.

Ohio Northern will again be in action on Tuesday at 7 pm at Heidelberg and on Friday at 7 pm at Marietta.
