Schultz wins twice as Men's Swimming defeats Wilmington 124-76

WILMINGTON —  The Ohio Northern men’s swimming and diving team defeated Wilmington College 124-76 in Wilmington Friday night.

The Polar Bears improve to 2-0 overall (2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference), while the Quakers fall to 0-3 overall (0-3 OAC).

Ohio Northern received two more wins from junior Michael Schultz.

Schultz dominated the 800 free, winning in 9:44.86.

In a much closer race, Schultz edged out his junior teammate and second place finisher Jacob Andreason by .39 seconds, touching first in 4:49.01.

The Polar Bears also received individual victories from four other swimmers.

Sophomore Ryan Bender won the 200 free in 2:07.17, more than six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Senior Dan Henry led the way in the 200 IM, winning with a time of 2:29.34.

Sophomore Nick Meyer edged out a win in the 100 fly. His time of 1:04.95 just beat out Wilmington’s John Creech by .09 seconds.

Sophomore Anders Samuelson added a win in the 100 free, finishing in 57.23.

The team of Bender, Schultz, Samuelson and freshman Andrew Keriazes won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.89.

The Polar Bears return to action tomorrow as they take on Wooster in a non-conference meet at the ONU Sports Center at 1 pm.
