Sanders' goal lifts Women's Soccer past B-W 1-0

BEREA - Kaitlin Sanders scored her first goal of the season in the 27th minute and the Ohio Northern defense held up to lead ONU past Baldwin-Wallace 1-0 Wednesday night at George Finnie Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-4-1 overall and are 3-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-5-3, 2-2.

Sanders, who entered the match leading the OAC in assists with nine, scored off an assist from Alyssa Merrick with 26:31 gone in the match.

The Polar Bear defense, led by goalkeeper Kristin DeWees, held B-W scoreless for ONU's second shutout of the season.

Northern out-shot B-W 18-5 in the match and had eight corner kicks to none for the hosts.

Becky Miner was solid in goal for B-W with 10 saves.

The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday at 2 pm against John Carroll at the ONU Soccer Field.
