Pole vaulters finish 1-2-3 to help Women's Track & Field win Anderson (Ind.) Invite

ANDERSON, Ind. —Sophomore Aubrie Stechschulte, junior Janelle Jansen and freshman Nicole Hope all finished with career bests in the pole vault as they finished 1-2-3 to help the Ohio Northern women’s track & field team win the Anderson (Ind.) Outdoor Invitational held at Macholtz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (23-4) won with 169 points, Goshen (Ind.) placed second with 124 points and Earlham (Ind.) and Grace (Ind.) tied for third with 65 points apiece.

Stechschulte won with a vault of 11-9.75, Jansen was right behind in second at 10-11.75, and Hope placed third with a vault of 10-6.

Ohio Northern’s 4x400 B squad, consisting of sophomore Lauren Rupp, senior Joy Kessler, freshman Alyssa Reiter, and freshman Ashton Dennen, beat out the Ohio Northern A squad of freshman Taylor Garber, senior Danielle Noe, junior Karen Thatcher, and freshman Ashley Sottoway won in 4:11.66.

The A squad finished second in 4:13.00.

Kessler and junior Brittany Farber finished 1-2 in the 800-meter with times of 2:20.47 and 2:21.01, respectively.

Freshman Courtney O’Banion, junior Kristen Yoho, Thatcher, and freshman Tiffany Olberding took first in the women’s 4x100 with a season best time of 51.62.

In the 400-meter, Noe won in 59.76, while Garber placed third in 1:02.51.

Dennen also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a career time of 1:10.79.

Junior Courtney Zupancic took third in the hammer throw with a career best throw of 144-05.

Hope also took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.46.

The women will be back in action next Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan.
