ADA - Junior Angie Pisut took a pass behind the defense from fellow junior Jamie Eiben and knocked a slow roller by the Mount Union goalie who was at the top of the box in the 87th minute to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory Saturday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 8-4-1 and 2-1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while MUC is now 4-7-1, 1-2-0.

Pisut's third goal of the season proved to be the game winning goal.

Northern had a 2-0 lead at the half thanks to Eiben's fourth and freshman Katie Kinkelaar's eighth goal of the season.

Junior Kaitlin Sanders passed the ball to senior Erin Stapp down the sideline who beat her defender before she centered the ball to Eiben to put the Polar Bears up 1-0 at the 13:38 mark.

In the 36th minute, Kinkelaar received an assist from sophomore Natalie White who also beat her defender down the right side of the field before centering the ball for the goal and giving ONU a 2-0 lead.

The score remained the same until the 58th minute.

Kelly Aughinbaugh scored Mount Union's first goal unassisted from about 20 yards out at 57:16.

Two minutes and 33 seconds later, Aughinbaugh had two point blank shots saved by Northern goalkeeper Kristen DeWees before Taylor Simeone gathered the rebound and scored, making the score 2-2.

The game seemed destined for overtime before Pisut connected for the game winner.

"I felt we had control the entire time," said head coach Mark Batman. "We're happy that we played well and ended up getting the result that we wanted."

Northern outshot the Purple Raiders 33-8.

DeWees made four saves for the Polar Bears.

Northern will be in action again on Wednesday at 7 pm when it travels to Baldwin-Wallace.
