Otterbein defeats Women's Soccer 2-0 in OAC Tournament Final

WESTERVILLE - The No. 23 Ohio Northern women’s soccer team was defeated by No. 11 Otterbein by a 2-0 score, as the Cardinals won the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Northern drops to 15-4-2 while Otterbein moves to 18-1-1 on the season.

Today marks the second consecutive season that Otterbein has beaten Northern to win the OAC Tournament Championship.

The first goal of the game came in the 43rd minute as Otterbein’s Molly Newhouse took a pass from Lindsey Rudibaugh and beat Northern keeper Kristen DeWees for the goal.

DeWees made three saves on the day.

Otterbein was able to add another goal in the 88th minute as Jessica Yaney was able to head in a ball to seal the victory.

The Polar Bear offense was not able to get started as Otterbein keeper Tara Carter made five saves and earned the shutout.

Even with the loss, Northern will look to gain an NCAA Tournament berth via an at-large bid. The field will be announced tomorrow.
