Ohio Northern receives Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors

ADA — The Ohio Northern coaching staff was named the Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Head coach Annette Shepherd and assistant coaches Jeremy Shepherd, Les Bowman and Jamie Snee guided the Polar Bears to a 39-6 record and a trip to the NCAA Division III World Series in Montclair, N.J.
Northern set a school record with 39 victories this season against just six defeats, won the OAC Regular Season and Tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA III NCAA Championships for the first time in school history by winning the NCAA III Greencastle, Ind., Regional Tournament.
ONU junior shortstop Liz Decima was named First Team All-America. leading a list of five players on the All-Region team and nine players on the All-Conference squad.
The Polar Bears ended the season ranked No. 6 nationally after being ranked as high No. 4 during the regular season.
Shepherd is 150-88 in six season as head coach at Ohio Northern.
