ADA - The #25 Ohio Northern women’s soccer team lost a close 1-0 match against visiting #8 Otterbein on Saturday as Lindsey Rudibaugh’s lone goal was enough to give the Cardinals a win on Senior Day at the ONU Soccer Field.

With the loss Northern drops to 12-3-2 overall and 6-1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Otterbein improves to 14-1-1 and 6-0-1 in the OAC.

Otterbein now has 19 points in the OAC which puts them alone in first over Northern, now with 18 points.

A scoreless first half saw plenty of excitement as both teams tried to gain some leverage offensively.

Northern’s  best chance to score came when Natalie White found herself alone with the ball in deep in Otterbein’s box, but a series of diving saves by Otterbein keeper Tara Carter was enough to keep the score at 0-0.

The lone goal came in the 75th minute as Otterbein’s Lindsey Rudibaugh took a shot off of a breakaway which bounced off the left post and snuck in the right side of the goal.

Northern had only seven shots in the contest, as Angie Pisut had three and Chelsea Albert and Tara Tokar each attempted two.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Wilmington to take on the Quakers in a 7 pm night match.

Both teams will be jockeying for second place in the OAC.
