No. 7 Volleyball sweeps Baldwin-Wallace on the road with one OAC contest remaining

ADA - The No. 7 Ohio Northern volleyball team was solid on both offense and defense, recording a .356 hitting percentage and holding Baldwin-Wallace to an .047 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory Tuesday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 24-3 overall and 6-2 in the OAC with the 25-17, 25-9, 25-11 victory, while the Yellow Jackets are now 4-24, 1-7 OAC.
Northern was nearly flawless offensively with 36 kills and only four hitting errors, including two in Set 1 and one apiece in Sets 2 and 3.
The Polar Bears put on their best offensive display in Set 3 with 12 kills, one error and 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage.
Senior Sharon Guzik earned the start and took advantage of the opportunity by tallying a season-high six kills and tying a career-high with four total blocks.
Guzik hit at a .353 mark (6-0-17).
Fellow outside hitters Abby Schaller and Alex Christian also played error-free, splitting time at the other outside hitter position.
Schaller started the match and played two sets and had five kills on 16 attempts (.312).
Christian came out on fire in the final set with five kills on just six attempts (.833).
Senior Liz Schnelle led the Polar Bear offense once again with 12 kills on the night. She rounded her night out with three blocks and two digs.
Junior setter Kelly Smerekanich dished out all 32 of Ohio Northern's assists on the night, while recording two digs, a block and an ace.
Sophomore libero Kasey Roeser continued her ascent up the record books with 14 digs on the night. She passed Brandi Stover (1998-2001) for sixth all-time in career digs and now has 1,275 for her career.
Ohio Northern will host Capital on Saturday at 1 pm for Senior Day at the ONU Sports Center.
A win will give Ohio Northern the No. 3 seed in the OAC Tournament, while a loss will give Ohio Northern the No. 4 seed.
