No. 3 Ohio Wesleyan blanks Men's Soccer 5-0

ADA – The Ohio Northern men’s soccer dropped a non-conference contest to #3 Ohio Wesleyan 5-0 Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears are now 5-3-1 on the season while the Battling Bishops better their record to 8-0-1.

OWU sophomore midfielder Dylan Stone scored the game’s first goal in the first minute of play off assists from Travis Wall and Matt Bonfini.

At the 42:46 mark, Ryan Harmanis added the second goal by way of a header off of a corner kick as he was assisted by Phil Serfaty and Brian Greene.

Ohio Wesleyan added three quick second-half goals in the 56th, 59th and 60th minutes of play by Eric Laipple, Bonifini and Sam Striler, respectively.

ONU was able to outshoot the Battling Bishops 9-7 in the second half while taking six corner kicks to their zero.

Senior forward Jimmy Matuzak and sophomore midfielder Cory Dobkins had the two shots on goal for Ohio Northern.

The Polar Bears are back in action on Tuesday as they host Defiance at 4 pm at the ONU Soccer Field.
