No. 2-seed Men's Tennis cruises into OAC Tournament Semifinals with 5-0 victory over No. 7-seed Otterbein

ADA – The #2-seeded Ohio Northern men’s tennis team is headed to the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament final four as they defeated #7-seeded Otterbein 5-0 in the OAC Quarterfinals in the ONU Sports Center Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears are now 13-5 overall while the Cardinals finish their season at 5-17 overall.
Senior Ryan Paul and freshman Nick Kowalczyk each had two wins on the afternoon for ONU.
In number one doubles action, Paul and Kowalczyk defeated Ryan Catanese and Tyler Brodhead 8-2.
Senior Chris Dohner and sophomore Jeff Carter won 8-2 in their number doubles match over David Powers and Jonathan Smith.
Senior Jay Vaidya and freshman Matt Dutro defeated Steven Albert and Ryan Roberts 8-4 in number three doubles action to give Ohio Northern a 3-0 lead in the match.
Paul defeated Powers 6-0, 6-1 in number one singles action.
In number the number two singles match, Kowalczyk clinched the match for ONU as he won 6-2, 6-1 over Brodhead.
“Today was a statement match,” Kowalczyk said. “We have been expecting this all season. Since we’ve already defeated them this season, we knew we could beat them.”
Ohio Northern heads down to the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason on Friday at 1 pm to play #3 seed John Carroll who defeated #6 seed Muskingum 5-0.
