No. 25 Women's Soccer uses three first half goals to defeat Heidelberg and stay atop OAC

ADA - The Ohio Northern women’s soccer team beat visiting Heidelberg 3-0 as three different players had goals in the first half for Northern Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
With the win, Northern advances its record to 12-2-2 overall and 6-0-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Otterbein also remained undefeated in conference play but tied John Carroll 0-0 tonight to give the Polar Bears sole possession of first place in the OAC
Heidelberg drops to 5-10-1 and 2-4 in the OAC.
Senior Angie Pisut scored the first goal of the game at the 3:46 mark of the first half off a through ball from Kaitlin Sanders, who registered her team leading 11th assist of the season.
Sanders now has 37 assists in her career, which is tied for second most all-time at Ohio Northern.
The goal gives Pisut 15 on the season and 36 career goals, which is the seventh most in school history.
Pisut has also scored at least one goal in every OAC game this season.
The Polar Bears struck again at the 11:07 mark. Junior Chelsea Albert got on a breakaway and crossed a beautiful ball to the center of the field where Sanders received it and scored her fifth goal of the season.
Pisut and Sanders are also moving their way up ONU's all-time points list with 84 (t7th) and 75 (10th) for their respective careers.
Alyssa Merrick notched the final goal of the game in the closing minutes of the first half as she took a free kick from 25 yards and put it in for her second goal of the season.
Kristen DeWees needed to make just one save in order to record her ninth shutout of the season.
“It was a good win to have before the weekend,” head coach Mark Batman said, “This gets us ready for Saturday’s match with Otterbein.”
Northern returns to action Saturday for Senior Day as they take on #12 Otterbein.
The contest will feature the two top teams in the OAC, as game time is 2 pm at the ONU Soccer Field.
