No. 12 Softball improves to 14-1 with 7-1 victory at Denison

GRANVILLE -- The No. 12-ranked Ohio Northern softball team improved to 14-1 on the season with a 7-1 victory at Denison Wednesday afternoon.

Game two of the twin-bill was cancelled in the top of the second inning and was called a no contest. Denison was leading 5-3, but ONU had the bases loaded and no one out when the game was stopped.

The Polar Bears improve to 14-1 overall, while the Big Red are now 5-8.

Northern broke a scoreless tie with a 5-run second inning and Courtney Cash (8-0) threw a 3-hitter to make it stand up.

Mandi Fought got the Polar Bears on the board with a one-out, bases loaded, 2-run single. 

Liz Decima had a RBI double, Tina Mangola scored the fourth run on a fielder's choice ground ball and Danielle Goubeaux capped the rally with a sacrifice fly.

Katie Cretin smashed a solo home run in the top of the fifth to make it 6-0.

The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Washington Invotational in St. Louis, Mo.
