CLEVELAND – Junior Natalie White scored the lone goal of the game as the Ohio Northern women’s soccer team defeated Case Western 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Cleveland.

Northern improves its overall record to 6-1-2 while Case Western drops to 4-3-1.

The win was the Polar Bears’ first road win of the season, after having gone 0-0-2 on the road earlier in the season.

The deciding goal came at the 26:28 mark of the first half when Natalie White received a cross that had been deflected off Case keeper Jackie Guttman, she was able to corral the ball and knock it past Guttman for her second goal on the season.

After that Northern played solid defense and allowed Case Western only eight shots for the game.

Northern keeper Kristen DeWees returned to the lineup and made two saves, earning her fifth shutout of the season.

Northern outshot Case 10-8 and had one less corner kick in a very evenly played match.

The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday at 5 pm as they welcome Denison to the ONU Soccer Field.  It will be the last match before Northern starts Ohio Athletic Conference play.
