The Ohio Northern men’s soccer won its ninth ONU-Adidas Classic Championship in 16 years Saturday afternoon by defeating Allegheny (Pa.) 1-0 and finishing the tournament with a perfect 2-0 record.

ONU remains undefeated on the season with a record of 6-0 while Allegheny moves to 2-3.

This is the best start for the Polar Bears since the 1994 season when the Polar Bears began the season with an 8-0 record.

Junior goalkeeper Aaron Collins recorded his third straight shutout and his fourth on the season while saving seven Gator shots.

Senior Adam Ross had the lone goal of the game for Ohio Northern in the 25th minute after an Allegheny foul.

He capitalized on the foul as he took the ensuing free kick from 20 yards out and sent the ball over the wall and into the left edge of the goal.

Both of his goals this season have come this weekend, scoring his first goal of the season yesterday against Manchester (Ind.)

Ohio Northern was able to hold off Allegheny late in the game to remain 3-0 at home this season.

The Polar Bears go on the road Tuesday, as they face Wittenberg at 7 pm.
