Michelle Eggers breaks record as Women's Swimming wins OAC regular season title outright

ADA — The women’s swimming and diving team won the outright Ohio Athletic Confrence regular season title with a victory 144-98 over Mount Union at the ONU Sports Center Friday evening.
With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 7-4 (4-0 OAC) and win their fourth straight OAC regular season title. The Purple Raiders fall to 3-6 (1-2 OAC).
Freshman Michelle Eggers broke the school record in the 1000 free with a time of 11:04.38. This edged the record of 11:04.93 set by freshman teammate Kaitlyn Early last week.
Early also posted a win on the night, propelling herself ahead of the competition in the 200 breast to finish first in 2:33.46.
Reigning OAC Swimmer of the Week Alison Garbash added her third straight win in the 50 free, this time in 25.69.
Junior Kim Randall posted a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.36, just a hundredth of a second ahead of Mount Union’s Alyson Kolesar.
Randall later finished just behind junior teammate Katherine Moore in the 200 butterfly, in 2:22.57. Moore led the way in 2:18.42.
The Polar Bears received another one-two finish in the 500 free from freshman Sarah Fiffick and junior Janelle Cain. Fiffick touched first in 5:31.56 with Cain in second in 5:45.81.
Fiffick also added a second place finish in the 200 free in 2:01.32.
To top the 200 medley relay, Fiffick and Moore combined with Early and sophomore Cassandra Fennell to win in 1:55.58.
Moore was also part of the winning 200 free relay team, along with Eggers, Garbash, and junior Jillian Huber to lead the pack in 1:44.19.
The Polar Bears return to action Friday, facing off against non-conference opponent Notre Dame (Ohio) in South Euclid at 6:30 pm.
