Men's Tennis tops Tiffin 8-1 in non-conference road tilt

TIFFIN -- The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team its fourth straight match Thursday afternoon with an 8-1 victory at Tiffin.
The Polar Bears better their record to 10-5 overall on the year while the Dragons fall to 1-25 overall.
ONU won all three doubles matches and the number two through number six singles matches.
Senior Ryan Paul and freshman Nick Kowalczyk started the match off by defeating Harry Smith and Andres Torres 8-4 in number one doubles action.
Senior Chris Dohner and sophomore Jeff Carter had the lone shutout of the match as they won 8-0 over Bryan Heisler and Matthew Weiss.
Senior Jay Vaidya and freshman Matt Dutro beat Ryan Toporowsky and Preston Torbert 8-4 in number three doubles.
In the only three-set match of the day, Kowalczyk came from behind to defeat Torres 2-6, 7-5, 10-4.
Dohner won 6-2, 6-3 over Toporowsky in number three singles while Carter won 6-1, 6-1 over Weiss in number four singles action.
In number five singles, Vaidya won 6-2, 6-0 over Heisler while freshman Andrew Korba picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Torbert.
The Polar Bears remain on the road tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Wilmington for a conference match at 3:30 pm.
