Men's Swimming finishes second at 11-team Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team posted an impressive second place finish out of 11 teams at the Wooster Invitational Thursday-Saturday.
Northern finished with 1250 points, edging Westminster (Pa.), who finished third with 1244. Wooster won the team title with 1285 points ad Case Wwestern Reserve was fourth with 1064.
On the final day of the three-day meet, the Polar Bears got first place finishes from Michael Schultz and George Chesney.
Schultz bettered the NCAA "B" cut in the 1650 freestyle, winning th event in 15:59.08. He has now met the "B" cut in the 200, 500 and 1650 free events this year.
Chesney completed the diving sweep, winning the 1-meter diving with a score of 414.70. He won the 3-meter diving on Friday with an NCAA "B" cut score of 439.00.
Nick Meyer was fourth in the 3-meter diving with a score of 336.40, while Patrick Maginnity was sixth in the event with a score of 205.20.
Brett Kuhn and Anders Samuelson had top four finishes in the 100 free. Kuhn was second in :47.6 and Samuelson was fourth in :47.88.
Ryan Bender was third in the 200 back in 1:57.47, Garrett Dauch was 10th in 1:59.87 and Nick Swint was 13th with a time of 2:03.10.
Swint was 11th in the 200 fly in 2:03.66 and Bill Neidinger was 12th in the event in 2:06.43.
In the 200 breast, Ryan Oberst was ninth in 2:13.83, Andy Garlock was 11th in 2:17.17 and Jeb Neal was 13th in 2:17.55.
Northern wrapped up the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of Kuhn, Samuelson, Bender and Schultz finished in 3:11.09.
The Polar Bears will return to action Dec. 26-Jan. 4 when they travel to Florida for their annual Winter Training trip.
