Men's Soccer team to open 2009 schedule Sept. 1 at Manchester (Ind.)

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team will begin its run for a second consecutive OAC title and NCAA Tournament berth in 2009 when it begins its 2009 schedule Sept. 1 at Manchester (Ind.)

The Polar Bears will also travel to the Roanoke (Va.) Tournament Sept. 4-5 and will open the home portion of their schedule Sept. 15 against Wittenberg at the ONU Soccer Field.

Northern will host the annual OAC/MIAA Shootout Sept. 18-19 and will begin OAC play on Oct. 3 at Muskingum.

The 2009 OAC Tournament is slated for Nov. 3-7 with the NCAA Tournament getting underway Nov. 12.

The Polar Bears finished 20-6-1 and were third in OAC play with a 5-3-1 mark in 2008 under 11-year head coach Brent Ridenour.

Northern won the OAC Tournament title and reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA III Tournament in 2008.
