Men's Soccer defeats Albion (Mich.) 1-0 in first match of OAC-MIAA Shootout

ADA -- Christian Huelsman scored with 7:33 left in the match to lead Ohio Northern to a 1-0 victory over Albion (Mich.) in the first match of the OAC-MIAA Shootout Friday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 7-1, while the Britons fall to 1-2-1.

Huelsman's goal, which is his team-leading sixth of the year, came off a nifty through ball from Trevor Baron.

Ohio Northern controlled play throughout the match, out-shooting Albion 13-5 and enjoying a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Baron's assist was his first of the season.

"Today was a good start to the tournament for us," ONU head coach Brent Ridenour said. "Our team defense was solid and we are looking forward to tomorrow."

In Friday's second game, Baldwin-Wallace edged Calvin (Mich.) 2-1.

On Saturday, Northern will face Calvin at 3 pm and BW will face Albion at 1 pm.
