Men's Golf sits in fourth place after Round 1 of Ohio Athletic Conference Championship

NEW ALBANY - The Ohio Northern men's golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by Otterbein at the par-72, 7,268-year New Albany Country Club.

The Polar Bears have 344 strokes. Otterbein leads the field with 327 strokes.

Junior Paul Morbitzer led Ohio Northern with a first-round 42-42--84. He is currently in a tie for 12th place.

Sophomore Joel Metzker and Tom Repicky are right behind Morbitzer with rounds of 85 and 86, respectively.

Metzker is in a tie for 15th and shot a +10 46 on the front nine before turning it around with a +3 39 on the back nine. Repicky went 44-42--86 and is in a tie for 17th.

Sophomore Phil Makowski rounded out the scoring and is in a tie for 28th with a 45-44--89.

Senior Ben Kretz began the tournament as the team's No. 1 golfer but was forced to withdraw from the competition early in his round.

Heidelberg's Zach Koinis shot a 37-37--74 and takes a six-stroke lead over second place into the second round.
