Men's Golf shoots lowest team round of weekend at 310, finishes in second place at ONU Spring Invitational

HARROD - The Ohio Northern men's golf team shot the lowest 18-hole team round of the weekend at 310 strokes, as the Polar Bears finished in second place with a total of 634 strokes over the two-day ONU Spring Invitational at the par-72 6,843-yard Colonial Golfers Club.

The tournament was very highly contested with Northwestern Ohio winning the event with a 315-317--632. After Northern's 324-310--634, Owens CC finished third with 323-314--637 and Heidelberg finished fourth at 320-318--638.

This marks the fourth consecutive second-place finish for Ohio Northern.

Competing as an individual from Muskingum, Joel Ardner won the tournament by three strokes with a 77-74--151.

Sophomore Tom Repicky and senior Ben Kretz led the ONU charge, tying each other for second place.

Repicky was the low man for ONU on the day with a 75. Repicky finished with 154 strokes after firing a 79 yesterday.

Kretz shot back-to-back 77s to score 154.

Sophomore Joel Metzker also recorded a top-20 finish, ending the tournament in a tie for 18th.

Metzker shot 85-77--162.

Also finishing for ONU was sophomore Phil Makowski (t29) and junior Paul Morbitzer (t37), who shot 83-85--168 and 93-81--174, respectively.

Freshman Jordan McKenzie led the ONU 'B' team by nearly cracking the top 10.

McKenzie shot 82-78--160 to finish in a tie for 12th place.

Ohio Northern will look to win the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Otterbein on Thursday and Friday.
