ADA — The John Rhodes era will get underway on Nov. 15, 2009, when the Ohio Northern men's basketball team plays host to Hanover (Ind.) in a rare Sunday afternoon contest at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears will then travel to the Wheaton (Ill.) Classic Nov. 20-21, where they will face McMurry (Ill.) in the first round.

Northern will also travel to Wooster, will host Wittenberg and will make a trip to Phoenix, Ariz., to face Calvin (Mich.) and Lewis & Clark (Ore.) at the Grand Canyon Classic Dec. 29-30 to complete one of the nation's most challenging non-conference schedule.

The Ohio Athletic Conference schedule gets underway Dec. 2 with a home contest against Capital.

The OAC Tournament is slated for Feb. 24-27.

Rhodes is only the sixth head men’s basketball coach at ONU since 1949 and replaces Jeff Coleman, who went 73-34 in four seasons from 2006-09.

The Polar Bear men’s basketball team finished 18-9 overall in 2008-09 posting its 19th consecutive winning season, and was third in the Ohio Athletic Conference with an 11-7 record last year.
