UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Christian Huelsman scored his Ohio Athletic Conference-leading 11th goal of the season, helping the Ohio Northern men’s soccer team post a 1-1 double overtime tie at John Carroll Saturday afternoon at Don Shula Stadium.

The Polar Bears move to 12-3-1 overall and are 3-1-1 in OAC play, while the Blue Streaks move to 7-4-1 and 3-1-1 in league play.

Huelsman put Ohio Northern up 1-0 with 4:02 left in the first half off assists from Chaz McCullah and Geoff Smith.

The assists were the fifth of the season for McCullah and the third of the season for Smith.

That 1-0 advantage lasted until Scott McKinney scored off an assist from Mike Pinter with 8:36 left in regulation.

The two squads then played 20 scoreless minutes in overtime to settle for a 1-1 tie.

JCU out-shot ONU 18-15 and had six corner kicks to four for the Polar Bears.

The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday with a 4 pm contest against OAC foe Heidelberg.
