McKenzie betters career-best by five strokes, Men's Golf in fourth place tie after Round 1 of OAC Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE- Freshman Jordan McKenzie shot a career low 35-38--73 during Round 1 of the men's golf Ohio Athletic Conference Invitational hosted by Muskingum at River Greens Golf Club Saturday afternoon.

McKenzie bettered his previous low round by 78 strokes, which he shot on September 28 during Round one of the Mount Union Invitational.

Ohio Northern is in a tie for fourth place of nine OAC teams with 309 strokes. John Carroll is in first place with 300 strokes.

McKenzie's 73 was not counted towards the team score since he was competing as an individual, but sophomore Tom Repicky matched his score with a 39-34--73.

The two Polar Bears are in a tie for fifth place.

Senior Ben Kretz and junior Paul Morbitzer each shot in the 70s as well, as Kretz went 38-39--77 and Morbitzer went 38-41--79.

Kretz is in a tie for 20th and Morbitzer is in a tie for 29th.

Senior Kevin Duffy and sophomore Joel Metzker finished one shot apart with a 42-38--80 and 41-40--81, respectively.

Duffy sits tied for 33rd and Metzker is tied for 37th.

ONU will finish the 54-hole tournament tomorrow.
