ADA — Ohio Northern junior quarterback Kyle Simmons was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in No. 19-ranked ONU's 38-7 victory over Heidelberg last weekend.
Simmons completed 20 of 29 passes for a career-high 280 yards and a TD and ran 10 times for 65 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. His 345 yards of total offense was also a career-high.
He had TD runs of 16, 41 and 1 yards as ONU built a 24-0 lead and his 3-yard TD pass midway through the fourth quarter completed the scoring.
This season, Simmons has completed 83 of 142 passes for 1,028 yards and five TDs and has ran 60 times for 266 yards and seven touchdowns.
This marks the second consecutive week that an Ohio Northern football player has received OAC Player of the Week honors, as defensive end Josh Horn was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5.
The Polar Bears will be on the road this weekend with a 1:30 pm contest at Marietta.
