Kyle Simmons, Jake Heaphy named OAC Football Players of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Kyle Simmons and senior Jake Heaphy were named Ohio Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week for their efforts in ONU's 41-10 win at Marietta on Saturday.
Simmons was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Heaphy was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the sixth time in his career.Simmons completed 13 of 18 passes for 226 yards and 3 TDs and ran eight times for 56 yards to account for 282 yards of total offense.
Heaphy drilled a school-record 50-yard field goal, made a 44-yard field goal, was 5 for 5 on extra points, had one punt for 40 yards and averaged 58.7 yards on his seven kickoffs.
This is the first time this season Heaphy received the award. He won the honor three times as a junior in 2008 and once in each his freshman and sophomore seasons.
The No. 20-ranked Polar Bears improved to 4-2 overall and are currently in fourth place in the OAC with a 3-2 record.
Northern will play host to John Carroll this Saturday at 1:30 pm at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
