Kretz shoots a 69, Men's Golf finishes second at OAC Invitational hosted by Muskingum

WEST LAFAYETTE - Senior Ben Kretz shot a career-low 69 in the second round of the three-round Ohio Athletic Conference Invitational hosted by Muskingum to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to its third consecutive second-place finish.

The OAC Invitational took place over 27 different holes at the River Greens Golf Club.

The Polar Bears went 309-299-304--912, finishing only behind John Carroll which shot 300-289-295--884.

Kretz also finished in a tie for second after shooting 77-69-72--218. He lost by one stroke to Blake Furgerson of John Carroll who shot 74-68-75--217.

This is Kretz's fourth top-five finish on the year and his second consecutive second-place finish.

Sophomore Tom Repicky also recorded a top-10 finish, finishing in 10th with a 73-75-78--226, sophomore Joel Metzker finished in a tie for 19th with an 81-76-74--231.

Junior Paul Morbitzer and senior Kevin Duffy also contributed for the Polar Bears, finishing in a tie for 43rd and 47th, respectively.

Morbitzer went 79-79-84--242 and Duffy went 80-85-80--245.

Freshman Jordan McKenzie started off hot yesterday with a career-low 73 in Round 1. He followed that up with rounds of 78 and 85 to finish with a total of 236 strokes and a t31st-place finish.

Ohio Northern will host ONU Invitational next weekend at Colonial Golfers Club on Saturday and Sunday.
