Kretz leads Men's Golf to second-place finish at Purple and White Invitational

LOCKBOURNE – After enjoying a Round 1 lead, the Ohio Northern men’s golf team finished second at the Purple and White Invitational hosted by Capital with a score of 319-326=645.

Madonna (Mich.) won the nine-team tournament with 322-313=635, while Mount Vernon Nazarene finished in third place with 326-325=651.

Senior Ben Kretz had the best finish for the Polar Bears, tying for sixth place with an 81-77=158.

Sophomore Tom Repicky also enjoyed a top-ten finish in a tie for ninth place. Repicky was in first place after Round 1 with a 74 and followed that up today with an 86 and a stroke total of 160.

Sophomore Joel Metzker and senior Kevin Duffy rounded out the scoring for Ohio Northern, coming in t16 and t20 with scores of 87-79=166 and 84-84=168, respectively.

Zach Koinis of Heidelberg won the two-day tournament with a score of 76-77=153.

The Polar Bears will play again next Friday and Saturday at the two-day Defiance Invitational.
