Kinkelaar’s two goals lift Women's Soccer to season-opening 4-2 win at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Freshman Katie Kinkelaar scored two goals and had an assist in her first-career game for the Ohio Northern women’s soccer team, leading the Polar Bears to a 4-2 victory over R.I.T. (N.Y.) on Friday morning.

Northern opens the season 1-0 while R.I.T. is 0-1.

Kinkelaar got the Polar Bears on the scoreboard in the 31st minute with an unassisted goal.

In the 42nd minute, sophomore Natalie White put Northern up 2-0 with a goal off of an assist by Kinkelaar, giving the Polar Bears a comfortable lead at the half.

R.I.T. came out strong in the second half, scoring two goals and tying the game 2-2.

Erica Main scored the first goal for them in the 61st minute, while Kim Sisti tied the game in the 77th minute.

Junior Jamie Eiben responded for the Polar Bears exactly three minutes later with her first goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Taylor Garber.

Kinkelaar then scored her second goal of the game in the 85th minute, giving Northern an insurance goal and a 4-2 lead.

Ohio Northern will play in Rochester again tomorrow against Allegheny (Pa.) at 11 am.
