ADA – Seniors Kaitlin Sanders and Angie Pisut each had two goals to lead the Polar Bears to a 5-1 victory over  visiting Hope (Mich.)  Saturday at the ONU Soccer Field.

Northern improves to 4-1-2 overall, while Flying Dutch drop to 3-3 on the season.

Pisut started off the scoring at the 29:59 mark when she beat Hope keeper Kelsey Bos from 18 yards out for the unassisted goal.

Sanders would score the next two goals.

The first goal came off a beautiful pass from sophomore Kim McGowan.  Sanders next goal came of a pass from junior Natalie White at 46:13 to give Northern a 3-0 lead.

The scoring didn’t stop as junior Chelsea Albert headed in her first goal of the season off a Stacey Barnhart free kick.

Pisut rounded out the scoring when she took a cross from Sanders and fired from point blank to put in her seventh goal of the season.

Northern keeper Kristen Dewees had a great game as she made four saves while only giving up one goal to Hope’s Danielle Petzak.

“It was good to end this week strong,” head coach Mark Batman said, “Scoring five goals against a team that normally doesn't give up many was a testament to the hard work our team has put in.”

The Polar Bears return to action on Tuesday, September 22 as the take on Mt. St. Joseph at 5 pm at the ONU Soccer Field.
