Justin Miller named Second Team All-OAC for Baseball

ADA — Sophomore pitcher Justin Miller (Millersport/Liberty Union-Thurston) has been named Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference in baseball for the 2009 season.

Miller led the Polar Bears with a 4.08 ERA, 70 2/3 innings pitched, 77 strikeouts and a .239 opponent batting average, while recording the second most wins with a 5-4 overall record.

"Justin was the workhorse for our team this year, and we knew every time out he was going to give us a solid effort," said head coach Justin Bergman. "Justin had a very successful sophomore year, especially after coming off Tommy John surgery last season." 

In the OAC, Miller ranks first in batters struck out, second in innings pitched and fourth in opponent batting average. He also ranks first in batters struck out looking with 24 on the year.

Miller was best in OAC competition where his ERA dipped below 3.00 at a mark of 2.70. He went 3-2 in conference action, picking up all but one of the Polar Bears' conference wins.

In six OAC starts, Miller pitched two complete games, one of which was a shutout, pitched 43 1/3 innings and struck out 46 batters, while holding opponents to a .216 batting average.
