ADA — Junior Joe Amstutz and sophomore Shane Huntley have both been selected to the 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Men’s All-Academic Track and Field Team.

Both men most recently represented Ohio Northern at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships as members of the 4x400-meter relay team.

Amstutz, from Bluffton, Ohio, is earning his second academic award of the season, as he was also named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference.

During the indoor season, Amstutz won the OAC Championship in the 500-meter run and earned All-OAC honors again with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.

He then went on to earn All-OAC accolades three more times during the outdoor season with three second-place finishes in the 400-meter run, the 4x400-meter relay and the 4x800-meter relay.

Huntley is from Sandusky, Ohio, and also enjoyed success during both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

He earned All-OAC honors twice on the year, once as a member of the second-place indoor 4x400-meter relay team and once as a member of the second-place outdoor 4x400-meter relay team.

Amstutz and Huntley were both integral parts in the historic success of the ONU running programs this season. Ohio Northern claimed men's and women's OAC Championships in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

The men's and women's teams also both won the OAC Relays, giving the running programs eight OAC trophies for the 2008-09 season.
