Gedert, Miller, Johnson lead Women's Golf to victory atDefiance Fall Invitational

DEFIANCE -- Emily Gedert, Ashley Johnson and Lauren Miller finished 1-2-3 to lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a victory at the 5-team Defiance Fall Invitational Monday at the Kettenring Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (18-3) finished with 333 strokes, a full 31 shots ahead of second place Northwestern Ohio, who finished second with a 364. Heidelberg finished third with a 404, Defiance was fourth with a 421 and Mount Saint Joseph was fifth with a 433.
Gedert took medalist homors with an 8-over par 79 on the par 71, 5772-yard course.
Johnson was second out of 36 golfers with an 82 and Miller tied for third with an 85.
Kaylea Thresher was sixth with an 87 and Terri Lynn Shigle was 12th with a 93 to round out the Polar Bear scoring.
Playing as individuals, Mindy Russell and Megan Russell tied for seventh with 88s and Tiffanie Shanks was 16th with a 96.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Heidelberg Invitational.
