Freshman Alison Garbash named OAC Swimmer of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Alison Garbash (St. Clairsville) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week of Jan. 12-18.

Garbash led the women’s swimming and diving team to two victories over Oberlin and Baldwin-Wallace during the week.

On Friday against Oberlin, Garbash earned a first place finish in the 200-medley relay (1:55.45) and the 50 free (25.94).

She picked up three more victories on Saturday against B-W, finishing first in the 400-medley relay (4:17.96), the 50 freestyle (26.17) and the 400-free relay.

This is the first time that Garbash has been named OAC Swimmer of the Week and it is the fourth consecutive week that a member of ONU’s women’s swimming and diving team has earned the award.

Garbash helped the women's swimming and diving team to at least a share of the OAC Regular Season Championship with Saturday's victory over Baldwin-Wallace.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday at 6:30 pm, as they host Mount Union.
