ADA — For the second time this season, sophomore forward Christian Huelsman (Wellington) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, this time for the week of October 26 - November 1.
Huelsman last received the honor on October 5.
Last week, Huelsman led the No. 25 Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 2-0-0 record and helped the team capture the OAC Regular Season Championship with an unbeaten 8-0-1 conference record.
The Polar Bears defeated Wilmington at home on Wednesday 2-1 before beating Marietta 2-1 on the road on Saturday.
After Wilmington took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute, Huelsman was able to answer almost immediately in the 40th minute with his 11th goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1.
Huelsman then put ONU on the board first against Marietta in the 25th minute. His day was not complete though until the 30th minute when he fed Chaz McCullah a pass that led to the game winning goal.
He currently leads the team with 12 goals and 29 points and is tied for the team lead with five assists on the year.
Huelsman also has 30 goals in his career, ranking him ninth in school history. His 73 career points are also tied for ninth all-time.
The Polar Bears will be in action again on Thursday as the No. 1 seed in the OAC Tournament when they host the winner of No. 4 Heidelberg and No. 5 Marietta at 2 pm.
