Christian Huelsman named OAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

By Steven Wright
ADA — Sophomore standout Christian Huelsman (Wellington) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of September 28 - October 4.
This marks the first time during his career that Huelsman has been awarded this recognition.
Huelsman began the week on Tuesday with his second career hat trick at home against Defiance. He was able to score all three goals within a 13:17 span in the second half.
His first goal came at the 48:08 mark of the contest off a cross from junior Chaz McCullah.
McCullah again assisted on his second goal at the 52:16 mark, while Huelsman was able to complete the hat trick at the 61:25 mark unassisted.
In ONU's OAC opener on the road at Muskingum, Huelsman helped the Polar Bears strike first when he had an assist to junior Dan Otanicar at the 17:12 mark for the team's first goal.
Exactly ten minutes later at the 27:12 mark, Huelsman's favor was returned when Otanicar fed the sophomore to put ONU up 2-0 in the first half.
Just as he did during his freshman season, Huelsman is leading the Polar Bears in goals (9) and points (21). He is also tied for second on the team with three assists.
Huelsman now was 27 goals for his career, which puts him one away from being in ONU's all-time top 10 in goals scored. His 65 points are four shy from cracking that top 10 list.
Ohio Northern will be in action twice at home this week, as the Polar Bears host Capital at 4 pm on Tuesday and Mount Union at 1 pm on Saturday.
