Case Western Reserve edges No. 21 Men's Soccer 1-0

CLEVELAND --  Mark Ilhan scored a first half goal and the Case Western Reserve defense made it stand as the Spartans edged No. 21-ranked Ohio Northern 1-0 in a non-conference men's soccer contest Saturday afternoon.

Both schools are 2-2-1 on the season.

Mac Church had seven saves in goal for the Polar Bears.

Ilhan scored the match's only goal off a rebound on a save by Church with 2:23 left in the first half.

ONU had several opportinities to even the match in the final minutes, but a goal was called back due to a foul and CWR goalie Ben Yabrow made an outstanding save in the waning seconds to keep the Polar Bears off the board.

Case out-shot ONU 17-10 and each team had three corner kicks in the contest.

After beginning the season with five consecutive road matches, Ohio Northern  will open the home portion of its season with a 4 opm contest against Wittenberg at the ONU Soccer Field.
