Bascom and Huelsman connect to lift Men's Soccer to 1-0 victory over Capital

BEXLEY — A redirected pass from freshman Christian Huelsman assisted fellow freshman Nate Bascom for the lone goal of the game at 17:02 to lead ONU to a 1-0 win over the Capital Crusaders Wednesday evening.
This victory marks the first time ONU has defeated Capital since 2004.
The Polar Bears advance to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the OAC and the Crusaders fall to 7-4, 1-1.
The assist was Huelsman’s fourth of the season and Bascom’s eigth goal.
Huelsman and Bascom lead the team in points with 22 and 17 points, respectively.
Junior Aaron Collins now has an outstanding seven shutouts for the season.
Collins had four saves against the 14 shots he faced, while Capital’s keeper gave up one goal and had five saves against the 23 shots he faced.
ONU was able to keep pressure on the Capital defense, outshooting the Crusaders 23 to 14.
Northern will again be in action when they travel to Mount Union on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
