ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Ohio Northern women's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Allegheny (Pa.) on Day 2 of the Rachel Miller Memorial Classic hosted by RIT Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Chelsea Albert scored her first goal of the season at the 85:26 mark of the second half to to tie the match and keep the Polar Bears undefeated on the season (1-0-1). Allegheny is now 0-1-1 on the year.

Albert's goal came off an assist from senior Erin Stapp who gained control of the ball after an ONU corner kick sent the ball towards the net.

Ashley Miller put Allegheny on the board in the 24th minute after taking a shot off a rebound from 10 yards away.

Northern controlled the majority of the contest, taking 21 shots compared to just nine for the Gators.

Freshman goalkeeper Kristen Dewees made two saves on the afternoon, playing all 110 minutes of the contest.

Of the 11 shots on goal for the Polar Bears, Albert and junior Kaitlin Sanders put most of the offensive pressure on Allegheny with three apiece.

"We were really able to control most of the match today, keeping the ball on our half for the majority of time," said head coach Mark Batman. "This was a good opening weekend for us, as we played some solid teams and allowed our younger players to gain some valuable experience."

The Polar Bears will travel to Anderson (Ind.) to play at 5 pm on Tuesday as the second game of a doubleheader. The men's soccer teams from each school will play before the women at 3 pm.
